The Salvation Army holds a special place in my heart. Years ago, my grandmother lived in one of their facilities, and as she began to develop dementia, the compassion and care she received from the staff meant everything to our family. They treated her with dignity, patience, and genuine kindness - and I'll never forget that.
Since then, I've found ways to give back, including volunteering during the Christmas season as a bell ringer and helping count donations. It's humbling to see how much generosity flows through those little red kettles and to know how it goes directly to help people in need.
I also support their back-to-school drives and Christmas toy drives - two programs that directly impact families and children who need a little extra help. The Salvation Army doesn't just tell about helping, they do the work, year-round, with heart and integrity.
That is why I continue to support them. It's a truly wonderful organization making a real difference in people's lives.
I've always believed in giving blood when I could - whenever there was a drive nearby, I would show up. But everything changed for me in 2009. A neighborhood child was hit by a car, and I happened to be the first one to the scene. I went to the hospital with him, and I'll never forget the urgency, the fear, and the desperate need for blood. It was in that moment - watching the medical team work and seeing the toll it took on his family - that I truly understood how critical blood donations are.
That experience stayed with me, and I knew I had to do more. Not just give, but help create opportunities for others to give. So I began organizing mobile blood drives at my office. It became one of the most meaningful ways I could give back, by creating a space where my community could step up and make a life-saving difference.
The American Red Cross makes that possible. They bring professionalism, compassion, and organization to every drive. They make it easy to help - and they make sure that help gets to the people who need it most.
Supporting the Red Cross is personal for me. It's about turning a traumatic experience into something lasting and positive. I will continue to support them, donate, and host blood drives as long as I am able.
